The NGN's aim is to provide all school governors with help and support in meeting the challenges and responsibilities involved with being a governor. This is achieved by keeping governors up to date with current issues and by ensuring that their views are heard.

As well as being a member of the county committee, my role at NGN includes attending the ICT steering board meetings.

The IEB replaced the governing body and had the remit of providing governance for the school until such time as the school came out of the Ofsted category and a Shadow Governing Body could be appointed.

As a result of the work of the head teacher and IEB the school received a satisfactory Ofsted inspection in May 2011 and the IEB was disbanded in January 2012.

James Wright and Stuart Lee will reveal how simple it is for teachers to monitor pupils’ lesson by lesson attendance throughout the school day with SIMS. They will also explain how the school looks closely at the behaviour, achievement and pupil information it records and how this can help uncover any underlying attendance issues that might need to be addressed.
